In food industry magnesium hydroxide is used as food additive E-528 (acidity regulator, color stabilizer etc.).
Nontoxic and odor-free, magnesium oxide is used in sugar production and as a food additive E-530 for stabilizing the color, changing the pH level, maintaining the flowability of freeze-dried products, or as a source of magnesium.
Food grade magnesium chloride (E-511) is an emulsifier; it is used in food industry as a firming agent.
Along with neutralizing properties used in antacid production, magnesium ions play a major role in human health and nutrition; they are also an integral part of most biochemical metabolic processes.
